Find Your Way with the Shop For the Future Charity Shop Trail Map!

Up For Yorkshire are proud to announce the release of the Selby charity shop trail! As part of their high street vibrancy project Shop For the Future, this dynamic map designed by local company WILD Studios highlights Selby’s 14 second-hand shops run by charities alongside landmarks such as Selby Abbey and the Town Hall. The map invites people to see Selby in a new light, explore the wide variety of second-hand shops that we have in the town, and recognise that variety as an attraction for residents and visitors alike.

Matt Fisher, Up For Yorkshire’s Community Development Lead, says: “We are delighted to launch this map, bringing Selby town centre to life as you’ve never seen it before in a bold and vivid fashion. We see our second-hand shops as a strong starting point for change and an exciting opportunity to create a sustainable and vibrant high street to be enjoyed by everyone. We are hoping to attract people from surrounding areas, whether they are treasure-hunters for lost albums or that one dress, shopping second-hand to help the environment, or wanting to support the range of incredible causes. This map is for everyone.”

David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, says: "High streets are constantly changing, but they have, and always will be, hubs for our communities. That's why I'm backing community led projects across York and North Yorkshire like the Selby Charity Shop Reuse and Recycling Partnership, which will revitalise the high street through innovative reuse and recycling initiatives, supported by an engaging public awareness campaign. Residents and businesses understand most what is needed in their communities, and I am proud to be backing their plans with my Vibrant and Sustainable High Street Fund."

Physical copies of the trail maps are appearing in the second-hand shops, and Up For Yorkshire are looking to use the map to promote Selby throughout Yorkshire and beyond via retail publications, social media and upcycling influencers. You can also access an animated version online.
