A Community Garden For Community House
In a brilliant story of local green space redevelopment, Our Zero Selby is proud to announce a community garden at our and Up For Yorkshire’s base, Community House.
Previously, this strip of land was wasteland of mostly grass and litter. We converted half of the land into a drive, and decided to put the back half of the land to good use.
With the help of Groundwork, who we have previously worked with on tree planting, we have turned the land into a community garden. Our community garden is complete with raised beds, a compost tumbler and a bench.
The raised beds will be used by the Selby Personalised Learning College, based at Community House, so that young adults with additional needs can grow their own vegetables and flowers. In addition, after the Sustainable Fashion Show, the garden will be home to not one, but two apple trees.
The garden is open to all, so please come in, sit down, and take a break in the centre of Selby. We are excited to watch our garden bloom over the seasons and we hope that you join us on nature’s journey!
