What is a Zero Hero?

Zero Heroes are a series of events designed to empower residents to become champions of sustainability in Selby. These events will provide you with the knowledge, inspiration, and support you need to make a real difference.

What can you expect?

Learn from experts: Attend informative talks from various speakers on topics like recycling, waste management, re-wilding, local initiatives, and more.
Gain practical skills: Discover practical tips for everyday sustainability, such as creating hedgehog highways, community gardening, and supporting wildflower planting.
Connect with others: Engage with other community members who share your passion for environmental action.
Take action: Learn how to effectively communicate about climate change and participate in local initiatives.
Access training and resources: Benefit from free training sessions, such as The Yorkshire Energy Doctor's Home Energy Efficiency training, and gain access to valuable resources.
Shape the future of Selby: Influence the direction of Our Zero Selby and contribute to the development of community-led projects.

What is Our Zero Selby?

Our Zero Selby is working to reduce carbon emissions, while also addressing issues of skills, fairness, health and wellbeing. Our work is based on the ideas from residents about what they would like to see happen in Selby going forwards. The project will continue to be resident-led, and the Zero Heroes will be vital in shaping the project’s direction.
